if this is the case that we have so many earthquakes in koycegiz how come the mayor still allows some builders to build new houses above ground level which apparently does not conform whith turkish law, that many earthquakes makes me feel realy safe living next door to this new build but typical turkish builder anything to cut costs just feel sorry for new owners that buy as they will have no idea

Blimey, not bad for an introduction and first post. I would suggest you go and have a quiet word with the Mayor who is always in the Bar on the Campsite opposite the beach, or go to the Planning Office in the Belidiye and ask them. If you see a Jeep Cherokee with a Turkish flag covering the back window around Koycegiz, thats the Mayors motor, go and ask him. I understand that on new builds, you have to have planning permission, the construction is inspected at regular intervals by the Belidiye and on completion you are issued with the "Habitation Certificate", this means the construction meets building regulations and without it, you cannot have the Water or Electric in your name. Incidentaly, we had a rumble at 7.00 am Saturday, 2.7 on the Richter Scale, epicentre was in the Aegean Sea.
