Importing Pets to Turkey
The following are required for those who wish to take their dog or cat to Turkey
1-Pet’s "Certificate of Origin" giving the health record of the animal.
2-A Veterinary Health Certificate issued 3 months prior to entry into the country stating that the he’s is in good health.
3-A second Veterinary Health Certificate issued a minimum of 15 days prior to departure.
4-On entry both certificates must be presented to an official veterinary on duty.
5-Veterinary papers need to be stamped from your home country's agriculture department to ensure your pet meets all the required entrance regulations to fly to Turkey.
Dogs must be vaccinated against rabies, parva, distemper, hepatitis and leptospiroz.
Cats must be vaccinated against rabies.
Vaccination must be done a minimum of 3 months before travel.
*To import your pet you must have a valid vaccination book showing rabies is up to date and an International Health Certificate. Pets are NOT allowed to come unaccompanied and must always travel with the owner.*
Health Regulations for Animals on Exit
If you wish to take your pet with you when leaving Turkey check with the consulates of your transit and final destination countries for their regulations regarding pets. You will then need to apply to the Mayor Office (Belediye) asking for a "Mense Belgesi" (certificate of origin).This document officially certifies that no rabies and epidemic diseases have been present at your area.
