Koycegiz is beautiful quiet town with hot summers and friendly local people. The lake of Koycegiz is often said to be as "as smooth as glass " till noon and then great for wind surfing in the afternoon. The Koycegiz Lake contains almost every kind of seafood from fish to crab. Bulent

Hi Charlie, Lake Koycegiz is excellent for carp, there is a Belgian guy who organizes groups of fishermen from all over Europe. He's had carp as big as 32kg out of there, but they are not quite as easy as I'd first thought. I've also been told that there are some catfish in the lake too. He rents all the tackle on a daily/weekly basis, all you would need to bring is a tackle box. Go here www.trekearth.com/workshops/597919/photo92856.htm for one of his smaller catches. Let me know if you are interested and I can send you more details. I also have a house for rent only 2 mins walk from the lake. Regards, Bob

Hi Charlie, there are also fish restaurants in BeyoBasi right next to the river where you can have fresh fish cooked and I would imagine a fishermans dream there also, also we're close to 2 beaches within a short journey where you can do beach fishing. They also do water rafting close by so probably a good area for fishing as well. Koycegiz is also a bird watchers paradise, with many different species visiting and passing through. Have fun

Helo everyone thank you all for replying to my message. I have been looking at a lot of information about Koycegiz and area and my wife and I are very excited at the thought of living there. We prefer to live along side the Turkish people at a slower pace than the holiday resorts. Did anyone see the meteor show in the skies over the Mugla area it must have been a fantastic site to see. Weather forcast for Scotland 17 F with lots of rain and flooding are you green with envy. My thanks to broglia for the address of the Belgian guy I will get in touch with him.
Charlie

Hi Charlie As you can see I have just joined the forum and thought it only polite to say hello to a fellow Scot. Arlene and I stay in Denny and she currently works for Stirling council in their offices in Stirling. Did you retire and move out in January this year then and if so how are you finding things, missing the cold and rain I bet !!! All the best, Colin.

Hi Colin and Arlene, Nice to hear from some fellow Scots! Yes we did indeed retire and move out here in January this year and it's the best thing we ever did. Koycegiz is a fabulous place to live, so laid back and peaceful. Perhaps we could meet up next time you are over and have a blether, contact us on e-mail if you like, you'll find it in our profile.
