Hello. My wife and I plan on moving to Turkey permanently. There are lots of lovely houses on the'net but not so much about the surrounding area. My wants to be able to go into a cafe by herself with out being stared at. I think the best plan is to rent for some months to get the feel of a place before committing ourselves.Koycegiz looks interesting.Comments please'

Hi Tom and wife and welcome to the forum. Koycegiz is the ideal place to rent and see what life is like, it is a small village by the side of the lake and outstanding views. Your wife will be perfectly safe out on her own there. I like to take walks around the village by myself and have had no problems, like you do in Marmaris and Fethiye, where you get hounded quite a bit. To rent an apartment or house costs around 400ytl a month, some cheaper, some dearer, Topalar is cheaper again. If you need any help finding somewhere to rent, there is help available, Bulent would be able to help you on that. You ca also stay in a pension while you look around. Hope to see you in Koycegiz soon. Regards Ann

Hi Tom, welcome to the board, Michelle and I are doing exactly the same renting to see what it is like before we buy, we think Koycegiz and Toplar in particular is an ideal place for this and hope to be there in January for good.

Hi Tom
Welcome to the forum. Your wife will have no problems in Koycegiz - I feel more at ease there than I do in England.
Paul & I already have our little place in the sun - a bungalow off the old Feithye Road, and can't wait to move over permanently - just waiting for our house to sell in England.
Hope to meet you soon
Andrea

Hi Tom,
Welcome to the forum. Charlie and I are also renting for a while before deciding whether to move out permanently. We both fell in love with Koycegiz as soon as we saw it. Looking forward to January when we make the big move, can't wait!
Hope to meet you both sometime
Christine
