My holiday shave burns
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DAD Billy Cessford went for a traditional Turkish shave on his holidays — and ended up with these first degree BURNS to his face.
Billy, 28, was on the second day of his trip with partner Lisa Boswell, 24, and their baby Zac when he visited the barber in Marmaris. Covered in scabs, he recalled his visit to the onsite barbers at the Club Alize Apartments.
He was given a close shave with a cut-throat razor before a face-pack was applied with a brush. But within moments art student Billy was in agony.
He said: “My eyes were swollen and streaming. They’d put a towel on me and, as I tried to remove it, it stuck to my face. The pain was unbearable.
“I told them it was hurting but they said that was normal. I left it a couple of minutes until I couldn't stand it any more.”
Billy, of Redcar, Cleveland, was told by doctors to stay indoors for two weeks, but should recover fully.
Lisa, 24, said: "When they removed the towel, Billy's face was lily white and his skin was hanging off in patches. He looked dreadful and could hardly talk with the pain.
“We think the face-pack brush was used earlier for peroxide and not cleaned.”
A spokesman for First Choice said the shaving service was at a hairdressers independent of the holiday company. The face-pack treatment had now ended and the barber sacked.
