Earlier this year, the Govt. reduced the KDV tax on Foodstuff and Wine, 10% reduction on Foodstuffs and 35% reduction on wine. The only outlets I know that reduced the price on food were the supermarkets that gave you a till receipt, didn't see any reduction in Wine Prices. This 10% reduction in Foodstuff, should under Govt., instructions have reduced the cost of eating out by 10%, in every outlet. The 35% decrease in Wine Tax is a "Consumption Tax", and was introduced under pressure from the Wine Producers who were having to add 85% Tax to a bottle of Wine. My Question is: has anyone seen a 10% reduction in the cost of eating out, and Wine reduced by 35% in 2008. ?? The full Consumption Tax is still applied to Beer & Spirits. Someone's making money somewhere, ask for a Till receipt in a small supermarket and a look of horror appears on their faces, because they have to declare it in their Tax Returns.
