It seems there is National Insurance for Ex-Pats who have a Residence Permit. Its very new,and I believe its called SGK. It will not exclude pre-existing conditions, nor will stop when you reach a certain age. Only the Husband will pay,and your wife is covered as well. The cost should be just over 200 lira per month. Unfortunately, I won't be able to give the application process details for about a month, but will keep you informed when I establish that it's not another fairy story. My source is normally in the know!!!!!!!!!

Doesn't a month go quickly. The info I have at the moment is that it comes under Article 60, and yet to be regulated, meaning how it can be implemented and at what cost. To qualify for the Insurance you need to be an ex-pat employee or employer, or hold a resident visa. If you hold a resident visa you will need to obtain a form from the UK government NHS confirming you do not have NHS benefits in the UK. This document will have to be confirmed and witnessed by a UK lawyer. A Turkish lawyer will then have to Notarise the document and then you take the document to Mugla. This procedure is something to do with reciprocity between Turkey and UK. I can see the advantages of this Insurance, but the downside is that you lose all NHS treatment in the UK. I suspect a lot of ex-pats are still registered with the NHS in the UK and would lose any further use of the NHS. Will keep you informed when I get more info.

The current situation is that the regulations are in place ready for action, but they are still working out the costs and how to implement the new regulations. This could take months.
