There have been 2 reports of hand luggage checks on the UK. to Dalaman flights. 1) A couple booked in and were asked if they had any hand luggage, they said no and showed the wifes handbag. Their daughter, who was not booking in, had been given their 2 pieces of hand luggage and told to wait away from the booking area. They went to board the flight and the Cabin Staff would not allow the hand luggage on board. Why ?, because the " Booking in Person" at the desk had marked their Boarding Cards " No Hand Luggage", and they had to leave the 2 bags at the Airport. ;D ;D ;D 2) Someone was asked to weigh their hand luggage and 1 bag was 17kgs, and complained they had to pay for 12kgs excess baggage and put it in the Aircraft Hold ;D ;D ;D Some people never learn

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Someone flew back yesterday from Gatwick. They were weighing hand baggage and then putting a white plastic tag on it at check-in. If you then had a bag without a tag when you went to board then the charge was £40.00. They were also checking the weight of the hand baggage again before boarding so anything bought in duty free had to be kept separate. They were even charging yesterday for luggage that was 1kg over!! I think they've cottoned on that the DLM flight is not normally full of holiday makers as it also has it's own check-in now where as before it was combined with all of their other flights. They weren't tagging the hand baggage to any other destinations, just DLM.

A friend of ours came in from Gatwick yesterday ( Thurs ), her suitcase weighed 15.5kgs and they wanted to charge her £8.00 for 0.5kgs. She refused, took a lightweight coat out of her case, put it on over her topcoat, re-weighed the case, no problem, how stupid can they be at check in. Hand Luggage also weighed and Tagged. Will know the procedure at Manchester by the middle of March. Flight from Gatwick was Thom. Cook.

Went through Dalaman Airport last week, a female passengers suitcase was 22 kgs and no hand luggage, sorry said the check in, got to charge excess baggage. The passengers reply was " I am allowed 5 kgs hand luggage and I have no hand luggage, its in my suitcase". Sorry said the check in person, your case is overweight, the passenger undone her case, took out her hand luggage bag, re-weighed her case, 19kgs, and this satisfied the check in person. Jobs Worth gone mad. In the other queue, a Turkish family, 2 adults ( wife English, with 2 toddlers), were going to live in UK, they had to pay £1200.00 excess baggage, 150 kgs overweight. It looked like Steptoes Yard with the amount of cardboard boxes, and they were taken to Security where they had to open everything before being allowed on board. Manchester AirportVery strict at check in and Tagging hand luggage, so be warned
