We had 9 Power Cuts this evening covering 7.55pm - 10.30pm, during this period we had no electricity for 2hrs, plus 3-4 cuts this morning. Its about time the Govt./ Elec. suppliers sorted this problem which we have on a regular basis. Everyone complains when we are hammered with huge price increase, but no one complains about the power cuts except the ex pats. The Turkish population are so used to them, they must think its the norm. This should not be acceptable as the norm. !!!!! Here are a few reasons I have heard for power cuts; 1) Water in the Distribution Boxes - Answer--- Seal them. 2) Dodgy Relays/ Contacts at Sub- Station - Answer--- Replace them. 3) Cables from Sub Stations overloaded for the amount of power required - Answer---- Replace them. 4) Not enough Generated Power through the system all over Turkey.- Answer ---- Build more Power Stations. I believe that when the Govt. privatise the electric suppliers, we will all face huge increases in electric costs to cover the level of Capital Investment required to sort the problem out, which will have to funded with private money. Dalaman Airport and the Gocek Tunnel are good examples of the practise of privatisation.
