Effective from 1 March 2009 to protect you against the threat of liquid explosives, the Turkish Authorities have adopted the EU liquid restrictions in force to be regulated on all Turkish Airports. This means that, at security checkpoints, you and your hand luggage will be checked for liquids, aerosols and gels in addition to other prohibited articles.
You are only allowed to take small quantities of liquids in your hand luggage. These liquids must be in individual containers with a maximum capacity of 100 millilitres each. You must pack these containers in one transparent, re-sealable plastic bag of not more than 1 litre in capacity (20cm by 20cm). Each passenger may only carry one such transparent bag. The bag must be presented for examination at the checkpoint and screened separately from your cabin bag.
Liquids included - water and other drinks, soups, syrups - creams, lotions and oils - perfumes - sprays - gels, including hair and shower gels - contents of pressurised containers, including shaving foam, other foams and deodorants - pastes, including toothpaste - liquid-solid mixtures - mascara - any other item of similar consistency Exceptions You may still carry in your hand luggage medicines and special dietary requirements, including baby foods, for use during the trip. You may be asked for proof that they are needed and/or required to taste the contents of each jar or bottle.
Check-in Bags
You can still carry liquids in bags that you check in. The new rules only affect hand luggage

The ban on passengers on all commercial flights carrying any liquids, gels and aerosols exceeding 100 milliliters in their hand luggage, has been postponed.
It was due to take effect on 1st March but the Turkish Civil Aviation Authority has announced it has been postponed until 20th April. ;D ;D ;D

Someone e-mailed Dalaman Airport ref. " Liquids" and received the following reply. "The liquids will be checked at the 2nd security check point, which are the gate entrances. This may be changed later in accordance with the related Authority’s further recommendations." Don't know how this relates to purchases in Duty Free, unless they sell in secured bags that cannot be opened in the Airport. Hope someone in Authority has thought this through

The new "Liquid Law" is a joke! I carried 2 x 0.5 ltr bottles of water through both security checks and wasn't stopped. And the same goes for all the other passengers carrying bottles & cans of various descriptions. But do make sure you are not over your weight limit on your luggage - and allowances do vary from carrier to carrier. Even if you are just 1kg over you will be charged

" Liquid Law", what a joke. I dropped my family at the Airport today, we left the drop off area and when were near the Domestic Terminal we found they had forgotten their drinks. I turned around and my wife took the bag through the security check with no other luggage or identification , not one security officer batted an eye, she took the bag to my family in the check- in queue. The bag was clear plastic and contained 2 x 1 ltr orange drinks in clear plastic bottles, 1 open bottle of wine for a quick slurp prior to boarding and various snacks. ;D ;D ;D As regular readers of the Forum know, I am very critical of this law and if its law, enforce it or scrap it. However I am very happy with the non - enforcement as I needn't pay the extortionate airport prices

Arrived at Dalaman airport yesterday 1st August for a flight back to UK to find that the Liquid ban has been delayed until 1st October.
Most, but not all, the posters around the airport have been changed.
Total chaos as always!
Some good news for smokers - it appears that you are now allowed to take 9 cartons back to UK. But check when you arrive as it seems to change almost on a daily basis.

Where did you get the information about the ciggies? , you are still only allowed to import 200 ciggies from a non EU country, unless the UK law has been changed. I hope you are right!!!!

I was told about the ciggies by the sales guys at the duty free in the airport. Everybody was laden down with them. However this site (http://www.heathrow-airport-guide.co.uk/dutyfree.html) would seem to disagree, and states the limit from non EU countries is just 200. Got home safely with my 12 cartons - and I don't even smoke Confused of Croydon

Thanks Pete. Looks like my days as a petty criminal are numbered. Still - it was a nice little earner while it lasted!

The restriction law on liquids was due to be enforced from 1st October as stated on the Airport website, it has been delayed once again and will now come into force on 1st January 2010. This could drag out for years to come and could be a best seller.
