Picked up a Parking Ticket in Dalyan on Saturday night (11th Sept) Parked in a line of cars by the River, couldn't see any 'No Parking' signs. Went to Dalyan on Monday to pay the fine and found the 'No Parking' sign round the bend, 50 metres from where I had parked. How do you pay a parking fine. 1) Went to Dalyan Jandarma to ask where the Belidye Office was located,Jandarma told me to pay at the Zabita in Ortaca. Off to Ortaca. 2) Three offices later in the Zabita, said I had to go to the Police Station just down the road. Off to Police Station. 3) Two offices later in the Police Station, told me to go to the Jandarma on the main road. Off to Jandarma. 4) Main Jandarma Office, after long discussion, told to go to the PTT in in Koycegiz. Off to Koycegiz. So far I have spent 4hrs trying to pay this Fine of 61 lira. I was totally fed up, went home and will try again tomorrow. T.I.T., This is Turkey!!!!!!

Part 2Went to PTT today, 3 different staff, spent 25 mins trying to pay the Fine, the last one went to check for any mail awaiting delivery, came back and said 'Yok' and handed the notice back. By now I am very fed up and decided on plan B, call up the Cavalry in the shape of Bulent, rang Bulent, explained the situation, he spoke to the man over the phone, and it turns out I don't have a fine. BUT I have got to wait until someone in 'High Office' considers whether to fine me or not, and they will write to me if they decide to fine me.

The Parking Fine was delivered today, 3rd Aug. The fine is in Turkish and English and delivered "recorded delivery". Informs you where to pay it, chose the tax office. hey ho off I went. Went to see Mr. Grumpy, he grunted and pointed to another desk, this man wanted the envelope the fine was delivered in, so back home for the envelope, handed over the envelope, this shows the date I received the fine, he put some details into his computer, gave me a print off and pointed to Mr. Grumpy. Mr. Grumpy took the documents and entered them in his computer and I waited with 61 lira in my hand to pay the fine, then a result, for paying on time he only asked for 45.75 Lira, a 15.25 lira discount, but he still didn't smile. ;D ;D ;D Oh! I almost forgot, my car has 10 penalty points against it The moral of this story is, take every piece of paper with you if you pick up a traffic offence notification.
