We will be coming to Koycegiz in early October with the intention of viewing various properties in and around the area that we have seen on-line. We have been advised that one of the houses is presently owned by an English person but the tapu cannot be transferred to another foreigner due to a boundary change. We have been told that there are ways round this, the simplest of which is to have the tapu in a Turkish solicitors name, with a contract stating that we have full interest in and rights over the property and to any proceeds at sale. We would appreciate any members advice or opinions on the above or should we just avoid this particular property . Thanks, Colin and Arlene.

The property is almost certainly classed as agricultural land and you as a foreigner can never own it and you can only sell it to a Turkish citizen. I also suspect that there could a problem under the Inheritance Law, but someone will no doubt know the full legalities of the Inheritance Law and will put you right. I personally wouldn't touch property on agricultural land with a barge pole, too many future implications and problems. Thanks for your reply, I think we will just avoid this property as there seem to be plenty others where the tapu should not be an issue.
