A friend of mine needed his car MOT'd in Mugla today, as it runs on LPG, he needs a gas certificate, so yesterday he went to Mugla to the Gas Testing Station. Got to Mugla, " Ah yes they said, need a small modification due to new government regulations", they told him where to go, cost 20lira, back to the Testing Station, car passed and papers issued. Today we went to Mugla for the car MOT, "FAILED", dodgy headlights, we couldn't see anything wrong apart from a small amount of condensation in one side and wait for it; Failed the gas Test, in spite of passing yesterday. So off to Mugla to get the problems sorted, 2 new headlights, no problem, had gas checked, definately leaking, 2 connectors hadn't been tightened, duly tightened, no leaks, back to the MOT test station. Waited 45 mins for a re-test, checked Headlights, no problem, didn't even check the gas and issued the MOT, "PASSED.Another car with a failure (Headlights),was being re-tested in the next bay, had fitted a new N/S headlight, the O/S one could just about be seen through the glass. "PASSED". Question: If the gas test is part of the MOT, why do you need a gas certificate before the MOT, as the certificate could be issued at the MOT station. My theory is the government makes millions of Lira a year out of gas testing, why ruin a good thing.
