A True StoryA friend of mine driving from Ortaca to Koycegiz spotted a Radar Check on the other side of the road, just before the American Car Sales site. 45 mins later he drove back the other way so he knew they were there, slowed down to 60-65, approx 100 mtrs from the Radar Car a 34 reg car came steaming past. My friend was then stopped by the Police and informed he was checked at 114 km/hr. Which he denied, he asked for proof and they showed him a piece of tatty paper with the speed and his reg. number written down. He continued complaining and was told " the camera never lies" and the fine will be in the Post. Now here is the " mentality", my friend had 2 passengers who happened to be the Head of Customs and his Assistant from Dalaman, and they also argued his case and despite showing their ID were told the same " the camera never lies"The Koygegiz Police Chief told him there is no appeal procedure in Turkey, although he sympathised with him, and the fine must be paid along with 25 points on his Licence. The moral to this is, don't think you get a fair deal off the Traffic Police towards the end of the month when they are trying to hit their revenue target for the month.
