The change in the law from May 1st means that any foreigner in Turkey now wishing to buy or sell any motorised vehicle will need to have both an identity number and residency. One positive note is that a trip to the police is now no longer required.” At least this will save on shoe leather. Don't think you can get round this new law by buying in a Turkish friends name, you can't, unless you are married to a Turkish person, foreigners cannot drive/ride a vehicle owned and registered to a Turkish citizen. Is this another scam by the Government to extract more money from foreigners living in Turkey, of course it is.
