For the past 2 weeks I have had a problem when booting up my computer, just prior to Windows loading, a full screen description of the Motherboard came up and froze the screen with a note at the bottom showing 1) CMOS Checksum bad, 2) Date/Time not set, Press F1 or F2 to overide defaults, pressed F1, sure enough Date/Time incorrect, altered them, but everytime I booted up, the same fault occured, didn't have a clue how to sort fault 1. After spending 2 weeks on search engines it all pointed to a faulty motherboard, so I bit the bullet and took the computer to my computer expert. He switched on, saw the screen, switched off, fiddled inside and removed something, went to his draw and refitted something, switched on, reset time/date, switched off and on, all working OK. What did he fit?, a new battery, same as used in car key fobs. The moral to this story is, "stick to what you know", all caused by a 3.5 lira battery.
