The Iskele Bar at the moment is just a shell, no roof or sides, just the steel frame. My contacts tell me the Belidye has closed it down because they didn't have planning permission, ( not confirmed yet ) The Bar has been open since October 2010 and has a mainly Turkish clientele in the evening making it a popular venue. What bugs me is that someone in the Belidye must have known the construction had started and allowed them to trade from October 2010 until end of June 2011,allowing them to spend tens of thousands of lira before taking action. Don't get me wrong, they should not have built without planning permission, which I agree with, but the Belidye should have stepped in earlier before they spent loads of money. My feeling is that the Belidye turned a blind eye and another Bar put in a complaint. X FOODA similar thing happened at the X Food, they built a well made Wooden Patio cover outside about 4-5 months ago, for the benefit of customers. The Belidye ordered them to take it down and use large umberellas in its place. What is the difference ??

why do you find this action strange its simple you either vote for the mayor and get 3 story roof extentions or over sized houses or even unsafe houses or probably in the 2 cases mentioned that they vote for a diffrent party as you say it was allowed then pulled down strange everything else gets to stay but this is koycegiz

Looks like the Iskele Bar is still trading, just went past and all the furniture is out and the sun shades are back up. But no roof or sides, don't know what will happen later or when the winter arrives. WATCH THIS SPACE
