The Turkish Govt. has just issued new inflation figures of just under 7%.

In the list of calculations are, dynamite, ping-pong ball, fees for private television, shower gel, highway toll, swimsuits.

NOT IN THE CALCULATION

Petrol/oil prices, natural gas, electricity, transportation fees, bread, meat, vegetables

What a joke, its called massaging the figures.

Now we are getting somewhere nearer the truth, the Govt. have announced that the inflation figure for the last year is 10.43%.

The national central bank had forecast much lower inflation of 5.5% last year, and expects it to fall to 5.0% in 2012.

If you get 10% interest at the Bank, you are losing 0.5% on every lira invested, add 15% tax on the interest and it doesn't take a genius to work out you are on a loser. The only way to protect your investment is not to draw any money out, your capital is still there but the interest left in the bank does not cover the current rate of inflation although your investment does increase.

Turkey's monthly consumer prices increased in April by 1.52 percent over March, bringing the yealy consumer price index (CPI) to 11.14 percent, the Turkish Statistics Institute (TurkStat) announced on Thursday.Energy price hikes in early April are being held responsible for the high inflation. The ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) government announced 18.72 percent and 9.26 percent increases in natural gas and electricity prices, respectively, on April 1

when you say toms increased by 44% does that mean they are bigger also i thought inflation was to do with pumping your tyres up with could be wrong

Turkey's annual inflation rate of consumer prices increased to 9.19% in September with the latest hikes in fuel prices, foods and alcoholic beverages, data released today by the Turkish Statistics Institute (TurkStat) have shown.

If you get less than 10.7% interest at the Bank then your savings are not keeping pace with inflation.
