Boat licensing to start
A new project has been started by the Association for Environmental Protection (ÖÇK) to review the Dalyan/Koycegiz area and produce a new environmental protection plan. The first phase of the project will look at the current biological conditions in the area. They will research the impact of socio-economic factors, the culture, agriculture, tourism and travel in the area. There will also be meetings with the mayors, state officials, muhtars, cooperatives and NGOs to ascertain problems and review proposed solutions to resolve them.. The contract to do this has been awarded to Ankara Çınar Engineering Company, and the project is being run by Banu Gök and a group of three other people; Afşin Gözen,Meltem Güvener and İsmail Tüzgen. The group has already started doing field work and interviews. In the project management group there is also a sociologist from Ankara Unıversity - Feryal Turan, a forest engineer - Aydan Alanay and the coordinator of ÖÇK, biologist Aynur Hatipoğlu Following the research and evalution phase a second phase will produce a management plan for the area and the whole project is expected to take three years River Boat Licensing Scheme. New controls are being introduced for the river boat . In future all boat captains will need to be licenced to take passenger boats along the Dalyan river and Koycegiz lake.

Hi Lale,
Interesting post (and I see elsewhere you're livening this board up a bit as well).
Where did you get the information? I've been trying to follow up developments in Dalaman area after Erdogan's speech in Jan 2004, but it's difficult to find anything.
I understand the contract for Sarigerme golf course is out, but the "Imar Plani" designating the land classification for Dalaman and surroundings seems to be stalled. And the Contract signed with dogus in 1997 to build a Deniz Otobus terminal and marina seems to have died a death, although there were some more noises at the end of 2005 about Didim and Dalaman marinas to be started and finished within 2 years!
Any info on these?
