Boat licensing to start
A new project has been started by the Association for Environmental Protection (ÖÇK) to review the Dalyan/Koycegiz area and produce a new environmental protection plan.
The first phase of the project will look at the current biological conditions in the area.
They will research the impact of socio-economic factors, the culture, agriculture, tourism and travel in the area.
There will also be meetings with the mayors, state officials, muhtars, cooperatives and NGOs to ascertain problems and review proposed solutions to resolve them..
The contract to do this has been awarded to Ankara Çınar Engineering Company, and the project is being run by Banu Gök and a group of three other people; Afşin Gözen,Meltem Güvener and İsmail Tüzgen.
The group has already started doing field work and interviews.
In the project management group there is also a sociologist from Ankara Unıversity - Feryal Turan, a forest engineer - Aydan Alanay and the coordinator of ÖÇK, biologist Aynur Hatipoğlu
Following the research and evalution phase a second phase will produce a management plan for the area and the whole project is expected to take three years
River Boat Licensing Scheme.
New controls are being introduced for the river boat .
In future all boat captains will need to be licenced to take passenger boats along the Dalyan river and Koycegiz lake.
