CENA was founded in 1992 in Alasehir, an area which is world famous with its grape production. Now it is one of the strongest producers of grapes and cherries. In 2005, their total grape production was about 5000 tonnes. Cherry production for the 2006 season was about 2000 tonnes and they plan to increase this amount to 4000 tonnes within 2-3 years time. They are also very strong with figs, chestnuts, pomegranates, citrus fruits, quinces and sugar apricots. Their own packinghouse is in Alasehir, situated 140 km southeast of Izmir and it has a size of 10,000 sqm. Its capacity for packing grapes is 75 tonnes per day. All the trucks are loaded through closed, cooled chambers without interrupting the cool chain. Their second packinghouse has been opened in Mugla in the Köyceğiz province and it has been fully operational since September. It will mainly be used for pomegranates, citrus fruits and vegetables. Their office in Munich is responsible for the marketing for Germany, Austria, Italy and the Netherlands, their office in Izmir is responsible for the domestic market, the UK and Russia. They are suppliying many famous German and Austrian supermarket chains, like Edeka, Spar, Lidl, Tengelmann, Metro and Rewe and have also good contacts and customers in Italy and the Netherlands. Success with their customers is due to the high quality-level of their products which are proved by certifications Eurepgap, HACCP, BRC, IFS, ISO 9001.
